Chris Pastor

Registered Psychologist
He/Him BA(Psych); G.Dip(Psych); G.Dip(Couns & Psychotherapy) AHPRA: PSY0002470870
I take an integrated, person-centred, and flexible approach to therapy; understanding and appreciating the varied and individual circumstances that may bring someone to therapy. I encourage curiosity and authenticity in my practice, inviting clients to explore their concerns and difficulties together, to recognise their innate strengths and capabilities, and investigate how we may feel and respond to the things that challenge us. I believe we all have the power to heal our own wounds.
As a clinician who has worked across a number of settings with people from all walks of life, I welcome all ages 16 and over, Veterans, First Responders, Health Professionals, the LGBTQI+ community, and anyone who would seek personal betterment and support.
My training and skillset
My professional psychology education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Counselling, a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have general registration with AHPRA.
My therapeutic approach
I primarily draw upon psychodynamic and attachment approaches to therapy, however, I tailor my approach to each client, as I believe they are the always the main driver of treatment. I also utilise:
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Interpersonal Psychotherapy
  • Acceptance & Commitment therapy (ACT)
  • Mindfulness-based & Somatic Therapies Schema Therapy
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy
My client care philosophy
I am genuinely committed to and passionate about the client-therapist relationship. I strive to create a supportive, caring, and judgement free space for clients to feel empowered and hopeful about their own individual journeys. I aim to receive clients as they are, at a pace and structure that best suits them. I feel therapy is at its most effective when clients discover their own inherent strengths and abilities.
